On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, will officially host the last funeral ceremonies for the renowned Ghanaian highlife artist Charles Kojo Fosu, better known by his stage name Daddy Lumba.
After a brief illness, the renowned musician passed away at the age of sixty-one (61) and left behind a lasting musical legacy that revolutionised Ghana’s highlife scene for over thirty years. Daddy Lumba, who is regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest performers ever, is well-known for his strong voice, poignant lyrics, and unparalleled versatility. His music struck a deep chord with listeners of all ages.
In Kumasi, where his musical career started, plans are currently in motion for what is anticipated to be a lavish and heartfelt farewell. According to family sources, the last funeral will honour not only his life and accomplishments but also the classic songs that shaped a time and still serve as an inspiration to upcoming musicians.
