On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat, the Terenga Lions defeated Morocco 1-0 to win their second AFCON trophy.

After losing 2-1 to their neighbours, Tunisia, in the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade Olympique de Radès, Morocco suffered its second setback in the competition.

A video shows how the Moroccans got ready to celebrate what would have been their first AFCON victory in fifty years, even though they are still licking their wounds.

The widely shared video features a specially adorned team bus for a championship parade that is branded with Morocco’s national colours, red and green.

Online reactions to the video were swift, with many fans making fun of them for celebrating too soon before the final matchup with Senegal’s Terenga Lions.
