Otumfuo will wrap up mediation efforts in the Bawku conflict by December 1.

The exercise will take place during a two-day meeting that starts on Sunday, November 30. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has set a date for what is anticipated to be the last stage of his mediation efforts in the protracted Bawku chieftaincy dispute.

A two-day meeting is scheduled for Sunday, November 30, and Monday, December 1, 2025.

The two-day exercise will be a final session to ensure permanent peace between the warring factions, according to a statement released by the Manhyia Palace on Monday, November 10.

As the dialogue approaches its conclusion, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged all parties to continue maintaining peace and praised both sides for their cooperation and dedication during the engagements.

The statement went on to say, “His Majesty commends both parties for their constructive approach to the mediation thus far and calls on all parties to refrain from any actions that could impede the development of a long-term resolution to the Bawku conflict.”

In order to start a new phase of communication, Otumfuo met with representatives from both sides in April of this year.

This comes after several months of recurrent attacks, increased tension, and violence that have caused property damage and fatalities in the Bawku municipality.

In an effort to quell the unrest, the government has periodically enforced curfews in the area as a result of these developments.
