WHISPERS TO THE CORRIDORS OF POWER (GHANA ARMED FORCES)

Your Excellency, John Dramani Mahama
President of the Republic of Ghana

Your Excellency, with the deepest respect and humility, I write this message not to criticize but to plead with you as a concerned citizen of our beloved nation. Ghana is our only home, and your leadership at this time is critical to preserving both peace and stability.

WHISPERS TO THE CORRIDORS OF POWER (GHANA ARMED FORCES)

Your Excellency, please do not allow any individual or policy decision to make your government unpopular in the eyes of the people. The strength of your government rests not only on development projects and policies, but also on how you protect the institutions that hold the nation together.

Among these, the Ghana Armed Forces stand tall as the pillars of our stability. They are the eyes of the nation, the shield of the people, and the defenders of our sovereignty.

It is for this reason that I am deeply concerned about reliable information reaching me that there are plans to reduce the allowances of our men and women in uniform. Your Excellency, I plead with you to reconsider this decision. Soldiers are not like every other group in society.

Their role goes beyond ordinary service—they carry the burden of discipline, sacrifice, and sometimes laying down their very lives to defend the republic. If their morale is weakened, if they feel neglected or unfairly treated, the consequences will not just affect them as individuals but will reflect on the peace and security of the entire nation.

Your Excellency, I have also observed with great worry that some members of the Armed Forces have begun voicing their frustrations publicly, even on social media platforms such as TikTok.

This is not a healthy sign. Some of them, unfortunately, are still loyal to the former government, and any dissatisfaction within their ranks could easily be turned into political propaganda that might harm the image of your administration.

For this reason, I appeal to you to handle this matter with great care and wisdom, so that peace will continue to reign in Ghana.

Your Excellency, it is worth mentioning that even some soldiers themselves have openly said that if the late Defence Minister, Hon. Dr. Omane Boamah, were still alive, such an intention would never have even been allowed to come out. This shows how deeply they respected his commitment to their welfare.

I therefore plead with you, in his honour and memory, to suspend any plans to reduce the salaries and allowances of the Armed Forces. By doing this, you will not only protect their morale but also honour a man who dedicated his service to ensuring harmony between the government and the military.

Your Excellency, Ghana is admired across Africa as a beacon of democracy, peace, and stability. This reputation was built on the sacrifices of the Armed Forces, who have served not only within our borders but also across the world in peacekeeping missions.

They are our pride, and they deserve to be treated with dignity and fairness. A single wrong policy affecting them could undo years of trust and goodwill.

I therefore plead with you once again, Your Excellency, to ensure that our Armed Forces are properly cared for and given every reason to remain loyal to your government and to the Republic. By suspending the reduction of their salaries and allowances, you will be preserving national peace, strengthening your government, and securing the confidence of both the military and the people of Ghana.

Your Excellency, the eyes of the nation are on you. I trust that with your wisdom and leadership, you will make the decision that will protect Ghana today and in the future.

Respectfully and humbly,
His Royal Majesty
The Mawerehene of Aburi Atwesene kingdom.
(Hon.Hadji Mustaphar)
