After withdrawing their initial offer due to agent concerns, FC Barcelona has made a new contract offer to midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Sebastien Ledure was just named De Jong’s new agent after he split with longtime agency Ali Dursun.
Details of the New Contract
The proposed agreement has a two-year term with a third-year option contingent on performance.
*compensation*: De Jong will continue to receive his current compensation of around €19 million a year, with a revised payment schedule that incorporates performance-based factors.
A significant element of the offer is an €80 million release clause, which is comparable to the one that was part of Ronald Araujo’s most recent contract extension.
Significance of Renewal
Barcelona has to secure De Jong’s future because, under manager Hansi Flick, he has emerged as a key player. Like Jules Kounde’s contract extension, his renewal might also help the club’s Financial Fair Play status. De Jong is a high-priority renewal for the Catalan giants because of his significance to Flick’s system. ²
Future Plans and Negotiations
Barcelona and De Jong’s team are still in talks, and both parties have indicated that they want to come to an agreement. Outgoing transfers and Financial Fair Play clearance may affect when the contract is signed.
Barcelona is eager to complete the renewal in order to prevent any issues, as De Jong’s current contract expires in June of next year.
De Jong’s Commitment
De Jong has stated that he wants to remain at Barcelona for the long run since he is happy with the team and its young, talented players. A rebirth is more alluring because his family has also made Catalonia their home. Under Flick, the Dutch midfielder has returned to his best, playing with Pedri.
