Music fans in Accra had a major date on the entertainment calendar on Saturday, October 31, as Hitz FM and Joy FM staged their joint Beach Rave at Rehab Beach Club in Labadi. The event brought together a line-up of musicians, DJs and entertainers for an afternoon and evening of live music and beachside activities.
MyJoyOnline reported that 19 performers were billed for the event, with King Promise and KiDi among the headline acts. Dancehall and reggae musician Ras Kuuku, rising singer Morgan Nero and music duo Lali X Lola were also named among the performers. The DJ line-up included Merqury Quaye, Andy Dosty, DJ Raennie, DJ Fantastic, DJ Dhon K, DJ Shaker HD, DJ Ikon and DJ Wobeti.
A joint experience for two radio audiences
The Beach Rave was organised by Hitz 103.9 FM and powered by Joy 99.7 FM. Bringing the audiences of two major radio brands together created an opportunity to connect radio listeners with live performers and presenters outside the usual studio environment.
Radio events remain an important way for stations to build community around their brands. They give listeners the chance to experience music, meet other fans and interact with the personalities they hear on air. For artists, such events provide a live platform to perform for mixed audiences and maintain a connection with supporters.
Artists and DJs on the bill
King Promise and KiDi were among the headline names expected to draw Afrobeats and contemporary Ghanaian music fans. Ras Kuuku added a reggae and dancehall dimension to the programme, while Morgan Nero and Lali X Lola represented a mix of emerging and established sounds.
The DJ roster was designed to keep the programme moving between live performances. Names announced for the event included Merqury Quaye, Andy Dosty, DJ Raennie, DJ Fantastic, DJ Dhon K, DJ Shaker HD, DJ Ikon and DJ Wobeti. The mix of performers and DJs reflected the event’s aim of offering more than a conventional concert.
Venue, ticketing and event details
The event was scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Rehab Beach Club, located in the Labadi area of Accra. MyJoyOnline reported that tickets were priced at GH¢100, with patrons able to purchase through the announced short code, at the gate or from the Joy FM front desk in Kokomlemle. Sponsors named in the report included StarOil, Ayuda and Kivo.
As the event took place on October 31, this article is a report on the scheduled programme and announced line-up, not a claim that every listed performer appeared or that attendance figures have been independently confirmed. Any post-event attendance or performance highlights should be based on verified updates from organisers or performers.
Why live entertainment remains important
Large-scale music events contribute to the wider creative economy through sound, staging, security, transport, hospitality, food vendors, ticketing and media coverage. They also create opportunities for local technicians, event organisers and small businesses that serve patrons.
For radio stations, the value goes beyond ticket sales. Well-organised events can strengthen audience loyalty, create content for broadcast and social platforms, and provide sponsors with direct engagement opportunities. The long-term success of such events depends on safety, reliable organisation, fair treatment of performers and a positive experience for attendees.
The Hitz-Joy Beach Rave placed Ghanaian music and radio culture at the centre of an Accra weekend event. TuneOn will continue to follow Ghana’s music scene, radio personalities and major entertainment happenings.
