Following the release of images and videos showing numerous Christians spending the night at the Accra Sports Stadium prior to Pastor Agyemang Elvis‘ Alpha Hour Convocation, Ghanaians on social media expressed a mixture of amazement and admiration.
On the eve of the much-awaited prayer meeting, the stadium was converted into a huge outdoor camping camp in what many have called an unprecedented demonstration of religious perseverance.
The stadium’s inner stands and perimeter were already packed with “Alpharians”, or followers of the well-known online prayer ministry, as early as Monday night, December 29, 2025. Many of them had brought mats, sleeping bags, and pillows to guarantee a seat for the programme.
The first session of the two-day Alpha Hour Convocation was supposed to start at 3:00 pm on December 30 and 31. But devotees had set up camp inside the stadium long before the stage was ready, desperate not to miss what they called a historic occasion.
Videos around midnight showed a sizable portion of the stands covered in worshippers, some of whom were wearing T-shirts bearing the Alpha Hour logo.
Some were sleeping, while others gathered in small groups and prayed fervently, their voices resonating through the darkness. Additionally, some worshippers were observed using their cell phones to read texts.
The stadium was packed, and thousands of worshippers had to set up tents in the parking lot and adjacent areas, but the event itself was a huge success.
The preacher also posted images and videos from the event on social media. He added, “JESUS IS STILL AT WORK,” in one post. Tonight, he will cross over with us. Don’t worry if you were one among the people locked outside the stadium. You will undoubtedly be astounded by what occurs in your life in Jesus’ name since Jesus saw you.
On the second and last day of the convocation, organisers predict even more crowds, with the crossover service expected to pack the 40,000-seat Accra Sports Stadium to maximum.
The ministry, which started out as a midnight prayer broadcast on Facebook and YouTube and has since developed into one of Ghana’s most powerful religious groups, able to fill the biggest stadiums in the nation, has reached a major milestone with the Alpha Hour Convocation.
Throughout 2025, Grace Mountain Ministry’s founder, Pastor Agyemang Elvis, has used the Alpha Hour platform to advocate for national reform, consistency, and spiritual discipline.
